Delicate and valued rugs

Rug Cleaning

A wool or silk rug is not the same job as wall-to-wall carpet, and treating it like one is how rugs get bled dye and shrunk. We test the fibre and the dye first, then clean by the method that rug needs, low-moisture where it matters, so it comes back clean and intact.

Rug Cleaning by Steamline Carpet Care
Scope

What this job includes.

  • Identify the fibre and test the dye for colourfastness before any water
  • Choose the method for the rug, low-moisture for wool and delicate weaves
  • Treat spots and odour with chemistry safe for the fibre
  • Dry flat and groomed so the rug keeps its shape
Our system: Wool, silk and natural-fibre rugs can bleed dye or shrink if they are over-wet or cleaned with the wrong chemistry. A colourfastness test first is the step that separates a rug specialist from someone who runs the same machine over everything.
How we quote it

A fixed price, itemised line by line.

We quote the full scope up front, with the work and materials priced against each part of the job, so the number you agree to is the number you pay.

The 7-line quote
  1. 1 Every room priced before we start. You get a written price per room or area before the machine comes off the van, not a number invented halfway through the job.
  2. 2 The method named for your carpet. Hot-water steam extraction or low-moisture, chosen for your carpet type and how dirty it is, and written down. Not one machine for everything.
  3. 3 What steam fixes, and what it will not. We tell you up front which marks lift and which are permanent dye or wear, so you are not paying for a miracle that was never coming.
  4. 4 Stain and odour treatment itemised. Pre-treatment, deodorising and stain work listed as their own lines, so you can see what is included and what is extra, before you agree.
  5. 5 A real dry time, in hours. The honest drying window for your carpet, usually two to four hours, so we never leave a carpet soaked and calling it clean.
  6. 6 The guarantee and what triggers it. A 7-day spot-return guarantee in writing: if a treated spot comes back inside the week, we come back and re-treat it free.
If a quote doesn’t show these lines, you can’t compare it, and you don’t know what’s been cut.
How it runs

What happens, step by step.

1

Tell us the rooms, get a price

Send the rooms and a photo of any problem spots and we send back a written per-room price the same day, or we quote on site before we start. No phone-price bait.

2

Book a time that suits you

Pick a slot online or over the phone. We confirm the window, the price and what is included in writing, so nothing is a surprise on the day.

3

Pre-vacuum and pre-treat

We move the light furniture, vacuum the dry soil first, then pre-spray and agitate the traffic lanes and stains so the steam has something to lift.

4

Hot-water steam extraction

Truck-mount or portable steam extraction flushes the dirt and the pre-treatment back out of the fibres, the deep clean a supermarket machine cannot do.

5

Groom, dry and check

We groom the pile so it dries evenly, set up air movers where needed, and walk the job with you so you see the result while we are still there.

6

Guarantee and aftercare

You get the 7-day spot-return guarantee in writing and a plain-English aftercare note, so the clean lasts and you know what to do if a spot returns.

Insured, covered, guaranteed

The paperwork behind the price.

Public liability to $20M (DEMO), and a 7-day spot-return guarantee, in writing, all in writing, all on request.

The licence and insurance behind this work are not decoration. They mean the job is held to a standard and your property is covered while we are on site.

The cover, the guarantee, and how to check each one.
Questions, answered

Rug Cleaning: common questions.

Can you clean a wool or silk rug without damaging it?
Yes, by testing the fibre and dye first and matching the method to the rug. Wool and silk need low-moisture care and gentle chemistry, not a heavy blast of hot water. If a rug is too delicate or the dye is not stable, we tell you before we start rather than risk it.
Do you clean rugs on site or take them away?
Most rugs we clean on site alongside the carpet. Very delicate, antique or heavily soiled rugs are sometimes better cleaned off site where they can be fully immersed and dried flat, and we will tell you which yours needs.
